Effects of Different Frequency Sensitivity Models of a Viscoelastic Damper on Wind-Induced Response of High-Rise Buildings

The fractional derivative (FD) model is one kind of numerical viscoelastic (VE) damper, which can describe the behavior frequency sensitivity VE damper well with some empirical parameters. However, FD difficult to apply practice design because its complex calculation. Compared model, integer (ID) models are widely used as equipped in high-rise building. ID lack consideration sensitivity, significantly affects their accuracy. To consider this study attempted use 4-element and 6-element approximate easily describing characteristic damper. wind forces 500-year-return periods were employed analyze influence on wind-induced responses energy dissipation. results showed that not only matched sensitivities low-frequency region excitation but also had good agreements Based findings study, recommended for wind-resistant buildings dampers. It helps improve simulation dampers considering high accuracy without massive experimental cost.
